Work History
Jan. 2002 to present: Publisher, Fairview E-News, an e-mail newsletter published four times a week for subscribers interested in Fairview, Oklahoma.
April 2001 to August 2002: Developing Fairview E-News.
Dec. 1996 to March 2001: Editor: the Fairview Republican newspaper. As editor, I was responsible for gathering, writing, editing and proofreading news stories. I was also responsible for taking and processing most of the photos in the newspaper. I introduced use of e-mail and the Internet for sending and receiving legal notices from attorneys as well as news stories, graphics, photos and ads. I also introduced scanning graphics and photographs, digital cameras, Adobe Acrobat PDF, all leading to full digital pagination.
Feb. 1995 - Nov. 1996: Editor: the Nowata Star newspaper. I completely redesigned the newspaper including headline and body text fonts and a totally new nameplate featuring a new graphic. I also introduced the use of scanning for text OCR and photos, leading to partial pagination.
Nov. 1984 - Feb. 1995: Editor: the Fairview Republican newspaper. I took the newspaper from phototypesetting using Varitypers to desktop publishing using Macintosh computers. I also helped start a statewide computer bulletin board service for the Oklahoma Press Association.
